BIOGRAPHY

Over the years, I have engaged in a variety of experiences as a design practitioner, researcher, and educator.

What characterizes me is:

Industrial & Human-Centered Design: Design of solutions that are tailored to available production processes and to users’ needs and characteristics.

Prototyping: Realization of digital and physical prototypes to assess solutions’ viability at various stages of the R&D process.

Basic & Applied Research: Scientific research to study state-of-the-art, user needs, and competitors’ solutions, following relevant parameters.

I am confident in interdisciplinary teams, where I act as a facilitator among diverse professionals, translating experts’ indications into practical design features.

In recent years, I have also become familiar with international environments through experiences such as the international Master’s program, my “Visiting PhD” at TU Delft, international sectoral events, and teaching for three semesters in an international Master’s program.

When I design, I follow the Design Thinking Framework, developed by Tim Brown in 2009, as it allows me to both formulate problems through appropriate exploratory research and reiterate design phases when outputs do not meet both my client’s and my own criteria.

MAIN EXPERIENCE

Medical Device Designer

Sensor Medica s.r.l.

2022-2025

I have been involved in the R&D of smart medical devices, focusing on both their physical and digital components. I adopted the Human-Centered Design approach (ISO 9241-210:2019), using the ISO 9241-1:2018 standard as a reference for Usability. I have gained hands-on design experience, primarily in the field of application (smart medical devices for biomechanical analysis), including knowledge of the manufacturing techniques used. Furthermore, this role has allowed me to collaborate with various professionals, translating their indications into tangible design features.

Teaching Assistant

Sapienza Università di Roma

2022-2025

I served as a teaching assistant for the Advanced Design Studio course, held by Vice-Dean Prof. L. Di Lucchio, for three academic years.

This course, part of the Master’s of Science in Product and Service Design, focused on the field of Medical Packaging. Students were required to study the state of the art in medical packaging to identify issues in existing solutions and propose innovative designs to address them. The approach started from user needs and combined technical expertise in design and regulatory matters.

In particular, I worked closely with students throughout the research and development process of their solutions, conducting periodic reviews.

3D Modeling Teacher

European Institute of Informatics

2020-2022

I used to teach technical drawing and product representation to adult professionals, through the software Rhinoceros and AutoCAD.

The lessons were individual and conducted in person.

Vicepresident, Treasurer

SapienzaU Association

2024-2025

Together with the President of the Association, I coordinated the eight Operative Teams (around 100 people) in the organization of meaningful TEDxSapienzaU Events.

As Treasurer, I supervised all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.

During my term, the association successfully organized three editions of TEDxSapienzaU and a variety of satellite events. In addition, I co-moderated a workshop on the biomedical sector, organized in collaboration with a leading multinational company in medical device design and pharmaceutical solutions.

Head of Design, Board Member

SapienzaU Association

2022-2024

I coordinated the Design Team in managing the brand identity of TEDxSapienzaU across various touchpoints, including media, products, services, and spaces.

The approach I adopted for coordinating this team of 15 people was to organize them into interdisciplinary working groups to promote innovation.

EDUCATION

Doctor Europaeus (PhD)

MEDICAL DEVICE USABILITY
Sapienza University of Rome +

Delft University of Technology

2022-2026

My NextGeneration EU-funded Industrial PhD Program aimed to develop a solution to enable low-resourced manufacturers to conduct usability evaluations of Smart Home-Use Medical Devices. This research was conducted in partnership with the company Sensor Medica, an Italian manufacturer of smart medical devices for biomechanical analysis.

I conducted Desk and Field research, worked as a Teaching Assistant, organized workshops, and published contributions in international journals and conferences.

I conducted part of my thesis research at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) for six months, under the supervision of Prof. Richard Goossens in the Department of Industrial Design Engineering.

Master's of Science

PRODUCT & SERVICE DESIGN

Sapienza University of Rome

2020-2022  |  110 w/Laude

This course provided me with the tools to adopt an effective, human-centered approach to design, while also applying the laws of behavioral analysis. Moreover, I learned how to create bio-based materials, design with metamaterials, and develop smart objects.

These are three innovative design fields that I believe will shape the future across industries.

My thesis consisted of a gamified token economy to incentivize young inmates to attend school classes.

Bachelor Degree

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Sapienza University of Rome

2017-2020  |  110/110

This course provided a concrete introduction to Design, with exams in Graphic Design, Product Design, Exhibit Design, and Production Processes.

This is where I learned and started working with 3D Printing, both for my personal projects and my colleagues'. My thesis consisted of a lineup of lamps for meditation and relaxation.
